A family has been left devastated after their cat was killed by ‘blunt force trauma’.
Binxy, a one-year-old black and white cat, was found dead near her home in the Gorse Covert area of Warrington last weekend.
Binxy’s owners, Daryl and Shanie, found the cat between Stainmore Close, Darnaway Close, and Woolmer Close, while they were out walking their dog at 10.30am on August 16.
She had broken ribs on her left-hand side and these had punctured her lung, killing her.
A yellow BB gun pellet and beer bottles were also found near Binxy’s body.

According to the vet, the injury was caused by blunt force trauma, which could be anything from being kicked or being shot with a BB gun.
Daryl said: “We’re devastated. We would have been devastated to lose her anyway but the way it’s happened just makes it so much worse.
“When my wife found her we called the emergency vets and dropped her off straight away to try and find out what had happened. They rang back a little while later to say she had died from a broken rib which had punctured her lung.
“Although the vets can’t be sure, we suspect she was shot at with a BB gun.”
The RSPCA was contacted and Inspector Jenny Bethel is now investigating what happened to Binxy.
She said: “Poor Binxy was found dead by her owner on Sunday morning after suffering some kind of blunt force trauma.
“It’s not clear if this was from a pellet or some other kind of force but what is clear is that a family has now lost their much-loved pet and so we are keen to know what happened to her.
